From back of photo: Cabins at Camp Mitchell, hetchy tunnel blast, July 17 -30 Photo is taken from hill looking down into Camp Mitchell, a community of approximately 20 strcutrues built in a ravine . The ravine is fairly narrow and surrounded by sparsely covered hills of trees (Oak and Pine?) and scrub brush. There is much open space between the trees. At bottom of photo are glades of grass and other vegetation. All the buildings appear to be made of wood. At lower right of photo is a one-story rectangular building with slanted roof. To the left of the building is a sedan on the raod into the camp. The road is divided in front of the sedan by a double building -- two slant roof buildings connected -- with a much smaller building in front. The smaller building has a window one side. To its right is a set of stairs leading into the large building in back. The larger building has four windows on the right side. To the left of his large builidng is a two-story building with a porch covered by a roof. Other buildings/shacks are scattered about the small ravine and are of the same general type. Most have chimneys extending from the roof. They appear to be very close together. To the right of the "main" building is a road leading down into the ravine. Almost at the bottom of the road and on the right is a small white building with rocks/debris against one side of it. Behind this building re more shacks. One side of the road is the hillside. Ont his side of the road re also telephone/communication ples.
