Poster has green printed edges enclosing an unprinted white background. At the top right and bottom left are light blue shapes of Iowa with "Jewels / Of The / Prairie" in blue and "Blooming Dates" in black. Thin vertical lines extend the length of the poster, dividing into different sections for the months April to September. Down the length of the poster are rows of color images of flowers and plants, corresponding to a certain time of month. At either the right or left of each row of flowers is black text with the common and Latin names of the plants. Poster verso has black ink printed on white paper. At the top is a section of text about tallgrass prairies surrounding a map of the US with the central states shaded in gray. At the center are illustrations of prairie animals followed by text about blloming dates and landscaping. At the bottom is a semi-transparent image of a landscape with black text over the top followed by references and information on the Living Roadway Trust Fund and the illustrator.
