This is an oil painting on canvas showing the Fire in San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake. A row of buildings appears in the foreground across the bottom of the composition. In the distance across a body of water, large hills are surrounded by several plumes of flame and a large cloud of smoke fills the sky at center.
