From the History Information Station: Object: Cafe table with decoupage top, with chairs and other furnishings. History: The table, chairs, and rug once furnished the Old Spaghetti Factory, a Beat and bohemian hangout in San Francisco. One of the trademarks of cozy bohemian decor was an old chianti bottle covered with wax from many smoky candles. Another trademark of Beatnik males was the beret hung on the chair. The cups and saucers are from Fenner Fuller's restaurant in Oakland, a popular East Bay artist's spot in the 1940s and 1950. And the papers are the "Montgomery Street Skylight," October 1945 and July 1946. The newsletter was published by Henri Lenoir, self-proclaimed "curator of North Beach," for the North Beach bohemian community. Gifts of Mary Burns and Fred Kuh, Mrs. Esther Fuller, and Henri Lenoir; Museum Purchase nn) 1 aluminum individual tea server or creamer. Japanese Stainless steel. History: From Fenner-Fuller Restaurant (see 73.218.1)
