Sunday school room (From Oakland Heritage Alliance News, Summer 1987, pp. 12-14, Carolyn Douthat): The Fourth Church of Christ Scientist, designed by Carl Werner, was built in 1922. In 1987, in connection with the proposal for a new Methodist church, there was controversy over demolition of the building versus renovation. OHA claimed that high cost estimates for reinforcement were based on inadequate information and sought a Preservation Services grant from the National Trust.
