Clipping attached to photo, "TODAY'S COVER--Newest addition to Oakland's skyline is the $10,000,000 building of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company at 15th and Franklin Streets, the subject of today's cover. The 15-story building actually is equal to 21 stories in height, because of the taller stories needed to house complex operating equipment. Double shifts of workmen are expected to complete the building by December. The photograph, taken by The Tribune's Frank Kettlewell, was made from 16th Street, near Telegraph Avenue, looking east." Photo shows a skyscrapper under construction in the downtown neightborhood area near Kahn's department store. On the street below the skyscrapper are several stores including Scheers Jewelers, Peters Bros., and Drs. Lazarus, Optometrist. Several cars and a truck are parked on the street and several people are walking on the sidewalks. Photo was used on the cover of the Oakland Tribune Magazine Pictorial for Sunday, May 2, 1948.
