This is a miniature version of the Emperor's palace used as a display for Girls' Day celebrations. It was used by the Domoto family in Oakland.
Wood, wood lattice and black lacquer; window is wood panel covered with gold colored paper.

o: wooden riser goes between the lower and upper floor levels of the large room - 12 1/2: long, 1 1/4" wide, 1/4" deep
p & q: beams across back of small room, grooved to support back panel; p - top, q - bottom
r: back panel for small room (similar to n)
s - y: flat wooden pieces that slide into the wall panels at the top of both rooms - 1/4 " thick.

qq: roof piece for small room - interlocks to the right of piece pp
rr: ridge topper for large roof piece; black lacquer, two yellow metal "lotuses" on front
