Silk handkerchief made in China, hand embroidered. Ivory colored silk is embroidered in silk twist, a border of green vines, some brown, with flowers here and there. Rose colored and pink peony embroidered at each corner. Center shows American flag and flag of China (?) crossed, decorated with an embroidered bow and more flowers, topped by a bird; machine stitched hem. This piece was given to the donor's father, Arthur Plumly (b.1875-d.1941) who worked as an Immigration Inspector, first in Salt Lake City and then in San Francisco (1912-1923).
