According to the notation on the back of the photo, this is a "groundbreaking for students memorial ball [?] of the late Henry Morse Stephens." In this scene three men are wielding shovels in front of a group of formally attired women and bare headed men. From left to right, the men are Prestiss Gray, Jonathan [sp ?] Gray, F. Griffiths, and William C. Crittenden. Although the names of four men are listed, only three are shown in the photo.
