A horse drawn delivery wagon with enclosed cargo space, belonging to the Schmidt Coffee Co., is at the curb in front of the house belonging to Henry Schellhass on the northeast corner of 5th Avenue and E. 12th st. In the photo owners Edward Schmidt, alongside the horse, and Ralph Pearce alongside the wagon are standing after ahving delivered coffee there. Two Tribune clippings are affixed to the back of the photo; the topmost reads "No supermarkets in 1906. Groceries were delivered to your door. Here Edward Schmidt (left) and Ralph Pearce, coffee merchants of that carefree generation, pose in front of a home at E. 12th St and 5th Avenue where they had just delivered coffee to the Henry Schellhass family." The date on the clipping is October 11, 1959. The second [lower] clipping reads "Edward Schmidt (left) and Ralph Pearce have just finished delivering an order of coffee at the home of Henry Schellhass, whose residence was on the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and E. 12th St. The picture was taken in 1906." The date on the Tribune clipping is May 16, 1943.
