The notation on the photo reads "Broadway Looking North from 12th St. 1873" Three large, multi-storey buildings with columns and cornices occupy the west side of Broadwaqy from 12th Street north. The closest one houses a book store and a furniture store. On the far side of 13th Street there is a carpet store owwned by Starkweather and Son, and further out a dentistry office. The buildings on the east side of Brodway are lower than those on the west side. In one of them pianos are advertised and sold. On the east side of the street there is a horse and unoccupied buggy, and a sole buggy without horse. On the west side of Broadway there is a horse hitched to a low bed truck. In the foregeround, two men are at work digging a ditch. Two sets of railroad tracks run down the cneter of Broadway.
