The guiding clue to the location of the passenger depot that is the focus of this photo is the notation on the back which reads "SP" over "219" In all probability this is the Southern Pacific railroad depot near 2nd St. crosses Broadway. It is a bustling scene with people standing or sitting on the platform. A horse and carriage has just crossed the railroad tracks and is moving up Broadway. Several large commercial buildings/warhouses parallel the tracks on the far side of the depot. Further down the tracks, there is a siding off to the right, and what appears to be a freight car is on it next to a loading dock. Between the freight car and the depot there are several carriages lined up, possibly awaiting the arrival of a train.
