There are two pieces of information on the back of this photo; one is the handwritten notation which reads "1880 Snow 4 col[umn] Centennial" and the other is an attached typewritten slip, which reads "Caption for General View Taken corner of 10th avenue and West 23rd Stree in the winter of 1880-1. Corner house belonged to McCellan, the dark house belonged to Jess, and the one next to that to Baird." In the photo there are a half dozen or so one- and two=storey Victorian houses in a row, surrounded by picket fences, and two others set further back. The land in front of the houses is vacant. The hills on the far side of the houses appear to be snow covered.
