The Tribune clipping on the back of the photo dated March 16, 1961, reads " CORDELIA JUNCTION Some $5.6 million in highway construction is now underway near Cordelia Juntion in Solano County. Highway 40 (center) extends from Vallejo north and east toward Fairfield. The projects include widening five miles of Highway 40 to six and eight lanes (light area right of divided highway); building the Green Valley Road bridge and Highway 21 interchange (center); work on the freeway to Benecia, which runs parallel to and north of Green valley Road; and erection of the Rockville County Road Bridge over Highway 40 at the curve north of Cordelia. The work is to be completed next December." Billboards and commercial buildings are near the interchange, and the land on botrh sides of the highway is essentially still farm land.
