The clipping on the back of the photo, dated July 29, 1962, reads: NEW SUPERHIGHWAY (LEFT) PUSHING ACROSS SACRAMENTO RIVER FLATS Divided freeway will replace narrow and dangerous Yolo causeway...." The aerial photo shows the older causeway, still in use at the time of the photo, at right, and the new one at left, heading southwest from Sacramento toward Davis. One of the Sacramento River channels can be seen at bottom right.
