The Tribune clipping, dated March 4, 1973, attached to the back of the photo reads: "Overpass to nowhere on Route 680, just south of Danville, looking toward the west. The overpass was designend to carry an extension of Bollinger Canyon Road planned by Contra Costa County public works department. After the State Division of Higfhways completed the freeway--and the overpass--property owners along the proposed Boller Canyon extension protested, and the extension was never built, but someday...." Orchards [possibly vineyards jm] fill the land on the east side of 680 and a portion of the west side. Less than a dozen vehicles are traveling on both sides of 680.
