BYPASS FREEWAY Walnut Creek Bypass Freeway construction forms swaths north and south from Mt.Diablo Blvd. The $7,925, 295 freeway, including 16 bridges and an elaborate three-level, six-bridge interchange at Oakland Blvd. and Mt. Diablo Blvd., is to be completed by January, 1960. Construction is on schedule." The aerial view shows what is now interstate 680 running from Concord to the Walnut Creek bypass/interchange. The highway leading to Oakland, now Highway 24, is at right upper. The continuation of 680 towards Danville leads from the right upper quadrant to to left upper. Parkside Dr., Hillside Ave. and Oakvale Rd. on 680 are identified on the photo. At right lower there is what appears to be a school. At bottom center there is an orchard. Houses and indutrial buildings dot the entire area.
