The Tribune Clipping, dated November 24, 1964, affixed to the back of the photo reads, "FREEWAY TO OPEN--State highway officials today said the Route 680 freeway portion (above) from Walnut Creek 6.75 miles to a mile south of Danville, will be open to traffic on Monday morning, weather permitting. Only minor cleanup work along the shoulders and installation of some lighting remains in the two-year $12.6 million project." The freeway jogs from lower right to upper left. A few buildings are at left lower (the west side), while large orchards are on the east side of 680.
