reads "SNOW SPECTACULAR -- The high Sierra donned her winter best pose for a Chrismas-y picture. Photograph was taken from new Interstate 80 looking toward Donner Summit in background. Old Highway 40 snakes in and out of the trees.
[Other features are the north flank of Donner Peak at left, below the peak, the Southern Pacific concrete snow sheds that replaced the wooden sheds in 1984, and the barely visible Rainbow Bridge on Highway 40 just to the right of the low saddle at center. JM 10/24/2000]
