In this photo, a group of sea Scouts are underway in a small motor launch, named the Pacific Clipper, off Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay. The backdrop for the Clipper are two naval vessels: Ship # 464, which appears to be a supply or construction barge, and a supply or personnel transport freighter, on the far side of the 464. The Tribune caption, dated 8/31/1947, on the back of the photo reads "With Oaklanders as hosts, 400 Northern California youths took part in the 12th annual regatta of Sea Scouts Region 12 during the weekend at Treasure Island. This group aboard Oakland's Pacific Clipper includes (left to right) Chet Walton, Don Gunn, Carl McInnis, Bob Andrews, Tom Gardner, and Fred Andrews. Mel Bettencourt was at the wheel."
