The Tribune photo, dated July 3, 1966, has the following caption on the back:" "Leisure time is fun and healthful for these El Toro [class] sailors in Recreation Department classes on Lake Merritt." [Note difference in year dates stamped on the back.] Against a backdrop of the Oakland hills to the east, eight El Toros are heeled over slightly in calm water. The little boats are rigged for only a mainsail.
