The Tribune photo, dated April 29, 1984, has the following caption on the back: "The Bay and its estuaries, such as Lake Merritt in Oakland, and suburban ponds like the duck haven at Heather Farms, [not shown] Walnut Creek, become playgrounds for rowers, above; a windsurfer at right [not shown], and the young woman at left befriending and feeding ducks and gulls [not shown]." A handwritten notation adds the following "Rowing team practice Construction team building New Central Bank Building at 20th and Harrison." The rowing team's scull is manned by 8 rowers and a coxswain. A motorboat at right is probably for the coach of the team. At center rear, in downtown Oakland, the Tribune Tower is shown, and the top of City Hall tower is at right. Kaiser Center is at the right edge. Between the Kaiser building and the Tribune Tower there is the new Central Bank building's steel framework, with a construction crane above.
