The date stamped on the back of the photo refers to the date it was copied from an earlier photo dating back somewhere between 1880 or earlier to about 1910 (or later) The scene is of Lake Merritt with a farm on the peninsula that is now Lakeside Park, looking east toward the pavillion at the eastern end of the Lake. What is likely an apartment building is just to the right of the pavillion. The farm has fenced-in areas and what looks like a boat house. A sloop is on the lake at left center.
