Four commercial establishments are in this scene: From right to left, they are the Melrose Creamery, an electrical supply shop, the Melrose Candy Ktichen, and the Melrose Cash and Carry Grocery and Produce store. The typewritten caption on the back of the photo reads "The pioneer Melrose Creamery as it looked in 1908 at the corner of East 14th St. and the S.P. railroad crossing in the heart of Melrose. The Reis dairy farm supplied milk for this old time creamery. Dominques (Mike) Reis, owner, appears on the wagon loaded with 5-gallon cans of milk." A two-horse team is hitched to the wagon, which is parked at the curb in front of the Ceamery.
