Description: Two cheerleaders participate at a rally under a bronze bear statue on the UC Berkeley campus. A school band is performing and students have gathered. Photo caption reads: "The dazzling bronze symbol - 12 tons of it - pf of the University of California was enveiled Friday in lower Sproul Plaza on the eve of the Cal-Stanford Big Game as a band blared a salute to 'Our Sturdy Golden Bear.' The original bronze was slated for a home in the student union complex in 1957, but was uncompleted because of lack of funds. Some 300 members of the class of '29 dusted it off and donated for its completion."
