This is a photographic negative of a batter running to first base. The first basemen is stretched out high to catch the thrown spheroid. The runner is almost at the bag and the umpire (far right) is watching the play. About three other players can be seen in the background of this picture. The third base stands and the left field can also be seen in the background.
