This is a photographic negative of a play at the plate during an Oakland Oaks baseball game. The base runner is sliding into homeplate just as the catcher is jumping in the air to avoid the collision. The catcher is wearing number 27 on the back of his jersey. The umpire meanwhile is barely in the picture to the far left. The photo was taken from the first base side of home plate.
