Typed at the top- "Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, May 24-- MAY BE HIS LAST-- Frank Shorter, an Olympic gold medalist in 1972, ran in the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trial Sautrday morning. The 26.2 mile race began in Buffalo, NY and ended in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Shorter stayed with the leaders for 11 miles but dropped down to 85th place.
