blue ribbon with fading glod type reading, "36th Annual Encampment, Department of California U.S.W.V. May 21-24, 1939 Sacramento" with the USWV emblem in the middle, is pinned on by a silver decorated badge. The badge reads Sacramento and has an engraving of the capitol building, the bridge, Sutter's FOrt and a mule with mining gear, it frames a piece of paper with Harry P. Todd typed on it.
The Spanish American War was a brief war in 1889, taking place in Cuba and the Philippine Isalnds.
