The image on the front shows the destruction at Union Square, in San Francisco. Below the image, the caption reads, "Union Square represented the choicest business property in San Francisco. The fire destroyed every building on its four sides. The Dewey Monument stands intact." The reverse has a title sign that has a banner reading POSTCARD boardered by two flowers and underneath which there is a picture book of "The Great Fire of San Francisco"
