Depiction: Close up of a large bulldozer tearing up earth in a fenced in area in Berkeley, the site of the the People's Park. The bulldozer is breaking up dirt and cement. Photo caption reads: When the University of California fenced in a nearly block squarelot May 15 it precipitated a bloody riot and brought National Guardsmen to Berkeley. Tuesday the guard pulled out and work of preparing a part of the lot for an athletic field was resumed. Here workmen are breaking up the remains of a cement foundation which remained after an old house was torn down. The matter of a People's Park built on a part of the lot by the 'street people' is still to be resolved. University gardners are taking care of the flowers planted prior to fencing in.
