Depiction: A few women have gathered on the lawn at the San Francisco Civic Center. There are blankets and boxes on the lawn. A large white banner reads Women's Peace Camp. A witch and an ax are also drawn on the banner. It is the focus of the photo. Caption reads: A handful of women gathered Thursday in San Francisco's Civic Center to hold the city's first peace camp modeled on similar camps of arms protestors in England and Europe. Rather than the more usual peace rally with fiery speeches, the camp is designed to allow women to talk among themselves about the peace and disarmament while pursuing peaceful arts such as weaving.
