Description: Young men and women hover under an awning at the Rexall drug store along a Berkeley sidewalk. Police in riot gear and with gas masks are throwing a gas canister at them. Further down the road cars are stopped and a crowd of people can be seen in the street. At the left of the photo is a pile of wood and a wheelbarrow sitting in the middle of the street. Photo caption reads: A Berkeley policeman throws a tear gas canister at fleeing demonstrators in the business section of Berkeley, Saturday. About 500 demonstrators clashed with police in a rock and bottle throwing spree after a rally at the site of the People's Park violence two years ago. Police used tear gas to disperse the crowd. Several arrests were made.
