Tribune caption on the back, May 6, 1982: "Cinco de Mayo- Schoolchildren from La Escuelita danced Wednesday as they joined with students from Fruitvale and Lazear schools at the Laney College Theater in Oakland in an annual celebration. Their songs and dances marked the May 5, 1862 victory by Mexico over French forces in the battle of Puebla, which began the Mexican people's resistance to Frence rule. The war ended three years later when he French left the country." Photo shows a line of young girls all wearing long full-skirted costumes on the stage at Laney. They are all holding a part of their skirt in their hands and a fan, too. They appear to be singing.
