A view of the steel framework of a commercial building under construction from approximately three floors up. At the right edge is the boom of a crane which is lowering a steel beam into place. Four steel workers are on corrugated metal decking, while watching and guiding the beam. Down below, on the street, there is a two-storey commercial building with a sign on top, advertising Dawson Scotch Whiskey. A movie theater is a part of the building, and it is showing the film "Dracula." At center, on the far side of the steel framework is an 18 (?) storey building, with the upper portion set back at about the 10th floor from the lower portion. Further down the street on which the tall building faces, is a building with a sign reading "Grodin's" painted on its side. The street may be Broadway in downtown Oakland. The construction of the new building is a project of the Oakland Redevelopment Agency.
