"Form in a Circle," TERRAIN Gallery, San Francisco, September 1998. "Gold Fever! The Lure and Legacy of the California Gold Rush,"

"David Risling, Sr., once told Brian Tripp a story about hydraulic mining in Northwest California in the area of a traditional Karuk village. He described miners blasting down the hillside in search of gold, destroying the village site and unearthing the burial ground. Karuk people witnessing the event cried as they watched and tried to gather their ancestors' bones being washed down river. Risling said they thought it was the end of the world." Carey T. Caldwell, Chief Curator, History. This piece was exhibited in "Gold Fever! The Lure & Legacy of the California Gold Rush."
