These caramel colored suede and kid short boots were purchased in Italy as a gift from artist Mel Ramos to his wife, Leta. The toe cap, and a small tab up the vamp of the shoe, as well as the high heels are of kid; the rest of the shoe is suede. Leta likes these shoes a lot and chose them to wear to the opening of Mel's exhibition at the Oakland Museum. She is also wearing them in the photograph included in this collection (2000.61.6).
