The Tribune photo, dated March 24, 1941, has the following caption on the back: "Thomas Clark, 23, aviator is shown by the wreckage of his monoplane, which crashed during ceremonies opening the Concord Airport (upper) yesterday." It does not appear that the caption matches the photo, because all that can be seen in this photo are the runway and taxiway, the hangar, and large numbers of spectators and automobiles.
