The Tribune photo, dated May 11, 1942, has the following caption on the back: "There was no time to talk over the flight when the'Scramble' order came, but now that they're back on the ground, the fliers get together around their squadrom leader (left), to check data of the flight. Note that they still wear their parachutes and oxygen equipment." The fliers are gathered around in an open circle, wearing their goggles and helmets as well as their parachutes. A red-pencil notation reads "Mills Field, S. F."
