The Tribune photo, dated February 20 1935, has the following caption on the back: "These [3] scenes [see also 2001.1.63 and.65] at the Alameda Airport, where construction work is being pushed to prepare for the arrival of the first of the fleet of seaplanes that will inuagurate California-Hawaii-China air service: "..... construction of a ramp. " In this scene, workmen are laying the wood and metal foundation for the ramp on which the Clipper sea planes will will move between land and water. The Alameda Airport hangar is in the right background.
