PREMIS: The Vietnam Journal is told through the eyes of a journalist who humps the boonies with grunts, and experiences the same things they do. It is thru those experiences that the major issues of the war- drugs/alcohol, death, sanity, health, etc. are brought forward. COVER: the POW/MIA sign is in the upper left corner, the Apple Comics sign and price in the upper right. The image is of a smaller helicopter taking fire. Two of the men in the chopper are pulling in a wounded soldier.

Each issue includes the profile of on soldier who is still Missing in Action, as well as a brief synopsis of what was going on in the Vietnam, the USA, and the rest of the world. The person profiled is named on the cover, and it is different in each issue. The profile also gives information about different ways of helping the POW/MIA cause. In the back of each issue is a section called "Friendly Fire" where readers respond to the comic book, and the editor replies. In some edditions, particularly numbers 1 and 2, "Matter of Opinion" replace the "Friendly Fire" section, and is basically a place where the editor explains himself and his reasons for producing what he has, or has not.
