Photograph shows a woman in a natural setting, holding the head of a deer that is laid out on its side in front of her, which she has presumably just shot with the rifle she is also holding. She is wearing a cloche hat, pants, and knee-high lace-up boots. This could be an image of Beth Bettencourt's aunt, with whom she lived for a brief period of time in the Sierra foothills. The image is unusual not only because it features a female hunter, but because the eyes of her prey are open (Inez Brooks-Myers, 7/24/02). Another interesting thing about this image is that not only is the subject holding her hunting rifle, she is wearing a pistol at her side (Marcia Eyemann, 7/25/02).
