Photograph is color, and shows Gloria Karina Arroyo being escorted from the Catholic mass in conjunction with her quinceañera by her mother, Elena Arroyo, and her father, Polo Arroyo. Gloria is wearing dress 2002.91.1. Gloria's quinceañera mass took place on September 23, 2000, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Camarillo.

A quinceañera is the celebration of a young woman's fifteenth birthday in Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central, or South American culture. The quinceañera symbolizes a young woman's transition into womanhood, and the event usually combines a special Catholic mass given in the young woman's honor with a larger formal reception for family and friends. This type of event may also be called the Fiesta Rosa (for example, in El Salvador).
