Map is white paper, printed in black, and shows the Carmel-San Simeon State Highway, now known as Route 1. Map is drawn in a cartoonish style, with whales and sailboats pictured in the Pacific Ocean, and notes such as 'trout fishing' and 'deer' made in otherwise blank areas. The reverse side has a description of the building and benefits of the new highway. Map was part of the estate of Col. Kenneth Scurr, who was briefly stationed at Ft. Ord during World War II.
