Typed on back, "Williams, Pesky Begin Training- Aviation cadets Ted Williams (left) and Johnny Pesky (center), are welcomed here by Capt. D.D. Gurley, USNR, commanding officer of Bunker Hill Naval Aire Station, as the two begin primary flight training. Williams and Pesky ran one-two in 1942 American League batting average with Boston. Johnny Pesky is a psseudonym for John Michael Paveskovich.
