"What's Going On? California and the Vietnam Era" Exhibition at the Great Hall, August 28, 2004-February 28, 2005.

This is a metal lapel button with "Silent Majority" printed on the front.

(D. Curry, 5/23/03) This button is significant to the Vietnam War era as it shows the opposite point of view from the anti-war movement. The anti-Vietnam war sentiment received much more attention and coverage in the national media during the 1960s but in reality a larger precentage of people (both within the state of California and across the nation) supported the governments policy in Vietnam, especially before 1968.
