This is a cruise book for the hospital ship USS Repose AH-16 for the years 1965-1967 while serving off the coast of Vietnam during the war. The book primarily contains photographs of various ship board activities throughout the cruise from recommissioning ceremonies at Hunters' Point Naval Shipyard in October 1965 through September 1967 arrivial at Singapore. The ship received a citation for "exceptional meritorius service from 22 February 1966 to 8 February 1967 while providing medical facilities afloat in waters adjacent to the I Corps Tactical Zone and in primary support of the III Marine Amphibious Force, Republic of Vietnam. Providing exceptional and selfless service in pursuit of her mission to save lives and reduce suffering, USS Repose admitted 4,927 patients, 1,758 of which were critically injured combat casualties; perfomed over 2,000 surgical operations, more than 1,600 of which were classified as major surgery....." the letter goes on to list additional statistics.
