From front of photo: "A 2430. H.H. Ag. Mocho West, Sta. 919+ - Spading gouge Material - Feb. 5, 1930" Eight men standing in cylindrical tunnel wearing work clothes (heavy fabric). One man in overalls and shirt. Others appear to be wearing work pants, shirt and boots. Several men are wearing soft hats (like fedoras). At least seven of the men are looking at the camera. On the left side is a ladder that the man in overalls is leaning against. His hands are folded across his chest and he wears glasses and a soft hat. To his left is one end of a series of large wooden blocks that go to the top of the tunnel and back down the other side. They are connected with horizontal wooden pieces and small wooden blocks and nails/rivets? There are four of these supports visible in the photo. There are two handles/sticks beside this man. In front of the second support structure is another man whose right hand is rests on his waist; he has no hat; there is a light bulb above him. Just to his left and above his head is a platform that goes across the tunnel and appears to have wooden planks on it and the wire from the ceiling for the lights drapes across the platform. At the back of the tunnel are four men; two on the left of the photo and two on the right. There is a bright light near the men on the right. These men are standing against the mountain wall. The wall is made up of horizontal and vertical shaped rocks and is probably the next section to be worked through. On the right side of the photo are two men in work clothes, boots and soft hats. Their hands are at their sides. Behind one man is an object hanging from a peg/nail in a block of wood. It appears to be a lantern but is not lit. There are several hoses. One runs from the ight side of the photo above the men's heads toward the back. Another smaller hose runs down the wall to the ground onto a pile of dirt that is about waist high at its highest point. The pile is generally dark but there are several light spots and small white rocks also on it.
