Dorothe

This is one in a series of 12 textiles by Dorothe Gould Pratt given to the Oakland Museum of California. Much of her textile work was done in and/or inspired by time she lived in Turkey. This is a square shaped textile, suitable to be a scarf or decorative large handkerchief. The pattern is placed on a diagonal, bands of quatrefoils (placed with two blacks together so a complete quatrefoil is created) alternating with bands of two different style "paisley" (palmette) motifs. A black band (about 1/2 inch wide) runs around all the borders.
