stamp "Geo. Fiske, Photo, Yosemite Valley, CA"
On verso:"From left to right Mr. Caldwell, Mr. Tilden of Berekely Cal fame, Mr. Zander"

Photograph, albumen print, mounted on board. From left to right: Mr. Tilden, seated on a donkey, Mr. William A. Caldwell seated on a donkey, a donkey with supplies and Mr. Zander standing next to a donkey. The men are wearing heavy boots; Mr. Zander is wearing a pithe helmet, Mr. Caldwell a "porkpie" hat and Mr. Tilden a cloth hat. The stirrups appear to be wooden, as were the Mexican stirrups of the time. The donkeys are carrying ropes and blankets. They stand in front of some trees in Yosemite Valley, as identified by the donor. The date was stablished by the style of clothing and neckties by IBM. On verso, handwritten in ink it says: "From left to right Mr. Caldwell, Mr. Tilden of Berekely Cal fame, Mr. Zander." Stamped in purple ink: "Geo. Fiske, Photo, Yosemite Valley, CA."

Mr. William Caldwell ran the School for Deaf, Dumb and Blind in Berkeley, California. Charles Lee Tilden had Tilden Park named after him.
